    El propósito de este trabajo es dar a conocer la identidad de los primeros escribanos que pasaron desde el Perú al descubrimiento y a la conquista de Chile refiriendo sus principales actuaciones, materias sobre las cuales sólo hay datos dispersos y es muy poco lo que se ha escrito. Incluye datos biográficos de algunos integrantes de un elenco de ciento veinte personajes que el autor ha podido identificar en la segunda mitad del siglo XVI.

    The purpose of this paper is to make known the identity of the first notary publics (“escribanos”), who came from Peru during the discovery and conquest of Chile by Spain. It highlights the most important activities they undertook, matters on which there is only scattered information and very little has been written about. It includes biographical data on some of the one hundred and twenty members of a group of “escribanos” who arrived in Chile on the second half of the 16th century, that the author has been able to identify.
