Objective: To investigate the prevalence of inadequate eating behavior and dissatisfaction with body image among students of Nutrition from a private university in the south of Brazil. Methods: This was a cross-sectional epidemiological study, where all students enrolled in the Nutrition graduate course from the University of Caxias do Sul were invited. Data were collected through self-administered questionnaires: Body Silhouettes Scale, Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ), Eating Attitudes Test (EAT). The body mass index was calculated from the self-referred height and weight. Results: 130 students were evaluated, 118 (90.8%) female and 12 (9.2%) male, with a median age of 21.5 (20.0 -26.0) years. The analysis of the Body Silhouettes Scale showed that 77 (59.2%) academics are dissatisfied with their body image. The prevalence of concern with body image was 12.3% according to BSQ. The prevalence of inadequate eating behaviors was 16.2% according to the EAT. There was an association between inadequate eating behavior (EAT) and dissatisfaction with body image (BSQ) (p = 0.003). Conclusion: There was a prevalence of 12.3% of dissatisfaction with body image and 16.2% of inadequate eating behavior, with an association between inadequate eating behavior and body image among Nutrition students.
