    La presente investigación tiene como objetivo analizar la relación entre la violencia obstétrica y dos fenómenos macrosociales: la medicalización del cuerpo femenino y la violencia de género en Chile, a fin de develar prácticas que vulneran los derechos sexuales y reproductivos. En cuanto a los métodos, se abordó al cuerpo desde una perspectiva histórica como un constructo social, también se consideraron la normativa legal, así como opiniones e informes de organismos internacionales y expertos que tipifican la violencia obstétrica como una violación de los derechos humanos de la mujeres embarazadas; constatando por un lado, el débil marco legal que protege a las gestantes ante los procesos de medicalización en Chile y por otro lado, un discurso del personal de salud incapaz de reflexionar sobre las implicaciones de sus prácticas en los derechos sexuales y reproductivos de las mujeres.

    The objective of this research is to analyze the relationship between obstetric violence and two macro social phenomena: the medicalization of the female body and gender violence in Chile, in order to uncover practices that violate sexual and  reproductive  rights.  Regarding  the  methods,  the  body  was  approached  from  a  historical  perspective  as  a  social construct, legal regulations were also considered, as well as opinions and reports from international organizations and experts  that  typify  obstetric  violence  as  a  violation  of  the  human  rights  of  the  pregnant  women;  noting,  on  the  one hand, the weak legal framework that protects pregnant women from the processes of medicalization in Chile and, on the  other  hand,  a  discourse  of  health  personnel  unable  to  reflect  on  the  implications  of  their  practices  on  women’s sexual and reproductive rights
