Resumen de Os assuntos gênero e sexualidade: representação temática nos sistemas SophiA/Biblioteca Nacional e Pergamum/UFPE

  This paper presents a comparative analysis on the thematic representation of the subjects Gender and Sexuality between the SophiA system, from the National Library – BN, and the Pergamum system, from the Federal University of Pernambuco – UFPE. The objective of the research was to analyze comparatively how the subjects Gender and Sexuality are being represented in the BN and UFPE systems. The justification is based on the proposal of an adequate representation of the subjects Gender and Sexuality, so that the search and recovery are more precise in both SophiA/BN and Pergamum/UFPE, by the users of that domain. The research was characterized as descriptive, with comparative, qualitative and inductive characteristics; it is a case study that was meant to understand and interpret if the terms that were attributed to certain titles of the theme fit efficiently to the subjects that are actually treated by them. The investigative corpora were collected in two stages: a) from the search for the subjects "Gender Identity", "Sexuality" and "Gender and Sexuality" in SophiA/BN, a list was created of the titles found in relation to the subject in scope national level, from 2010 to 2014; b) the titles retrieved in SophiA/BN were searched in the Pergamum/UFPE, generating a second list – of the titles that were found; thus, the works resulting from these two filtrations, that is, those found in both collections, had their terms analyzed comparatively in conjunction with the terms that were extracted from the titles themselves and respective copies. After analyzing and discussing the results, it was concluded that the subjects Gender and Sexuality are not being adequately explored, either by the SophiA/BN system or by the Pergamum/UFPE system, raising questions about the importance of the indexing specificity of those subjects and the professional ethics needed in this process to promote access to information.

  Este artigo traz uma análise comparativa sobre a representação temática dos assuntos Gênero e Sexualidade entre o sistema SophiA, da Biblioteca Nacional – BN, e o sistema Pergamum, da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco – UFPE. O objetivo da pesquisa foi analisar comparativamente como os assuntos Gênero e Sexualidade estão sendo representados nos sistemas da BN e da UFPE. A justificativa baseia-se na proposta de uma representação adequada dos assuntos Gênero e Sexualidade, para que a busca e a recuperação sejam mais precisas tanto no SophiA/BN quanto no Pergamum/UFPE, por parte dos usuários desse domínio. A pesquisa foi caracterizada como exploratória, com características comparativas, qualitativas e indutivas; tratando-se de um estudo de caso que visou compreender e interpretar se os termos que foram atribuídos a determinados títulos da temática se adéquam de forma eficiente aos assuntos que de fato são tratados por eles. Os corpora investigativos foram coletados em duas etapas: a) a partir da busca pelos assuntos "Identidade de Gênero", "Sexualidade" e "Gênero e Sexualidade" no SophiA/BN, foi criada uma lista dos títulos encontrados em relação à temática em âmbito nacional, de 2010 a 2014; b) os títulos recuperados no SophiA/BN foram pesquisados no Pergamum/UFPE, gerando uma segunda lista – dos títulos que foram encontrados; assim, as obras resultantes dessas duas filtragens, quer dizer, as que se encontram em ambos acervos, tiveram seus termos analisados comparativamente em conjunto com os termos que foram extraídos dos próprios títulos e respectivos exemplares. Após análise e discussão dos resultados, concluiu-se que os assuntos Gênero e Sexualidade não estão sendo explorados de maneira precisa, nem pelo sistema SophiA/BN nem pelo sistema Pergamum/UFPE, levantando questões acerca da importância da especificidade da indexação dessa temática e da ética profissional necessária nesse processo de promover acesso à informação.
