    En el presente artículo nos hemos propuesto concretar los rasgos distintivos del Periodismo, más que de los periódicos, al que dieron vida los emigrados canarios en Cuba durante el último tercio del siglo XIX y primero del XX. A tal fin, hemos recurrido a las páginas de las propias publicaciones y a los estudios disponibles sobre algunas cabeceras para, siguiendo las pautas académicas de la comunicación social, reconstruir el mecanismo comunicativo articulado por el sector en el seno del contingente emigrado. Ello nos ha permitido desvelar el perfil de la minoría editora, la tipología y la evolución del producto informativo, la distribución y circulación de los ejemplares, los destinatarios y receptores de la información e, incluso, los cauces a través de los cuales (las lecturas colectivas y el «boca en boca») el mensaje circuló por la colonia isleña de la isla antillana y las propias Islas Canarias. En el desarrollo de la investigación hemos tenido en todo momento presente la evolución del periodismo coetáneo editado en Canarias para, centrando el análisis en la concepción que se tenía del archipiélago en los dos polos del flujo migratorio, detectar las diferencias y similitudes existentes al respecto en la prensa de ambas orillas del Atlántico

    In the present article we have proposed to summa rise the distinctive features of the Journalism, not only with the foundation of newspapers and magazines, that was produced by the Canary Islands emigrants in Cuba during the last quarter of the XIX century and the beginning of the XXs. For that purpose, we had used the pages of those publications and some available studies about certain newspapers with the intention, following the academicals patterns in social communication, to rebuild the communicative mechanism constructed by this professional segment inside the group of emigrants. This procedure had allowed us to uncover the profile of that publishing minority, the typology and the development of the informative product, and also the distribution and traffic of the newspapers and magazines, the addressees and receivers of the information and, even more, the ways through which (collective readings and «from mouth to mouth») the message spread not only in the Canary Islands colony living in Cuba but also in the Canary Islands themselves. In the progress of this research we always had in mind the development of the coetaneous journalism published in the Canaries in order to, focusing the analysis in the usual conception about the Archipelago in both poles of the migratory flow, detect the current differences and similarities about the journalism in the two shores of the Atlantic Ocean.
