Resumen de El monstruo fantástico posmoderno: entre la anomalía y la domesticación

La ficción posmoderna no ha cesado de producir todo tipo de monstruos imposibles y, por ello, inquietantes, pero, al mismo tiempo, se están prodigando las obras (Crepúsculo es un ejemplo paradigmático) que banalizan y/o domestican al monstruo, despojándolo de su excepcionalidad, lo que provoca un curioso fenómeno (tras el que se oculta una visión inevitablemente conservadora del mundo): dotarlo de esa normalidad supone incorporarlo a la realidad, convertirlo en un posible más del mundo, y, con ello extirparle su original naturaleza imposible, situarlo dentro de la norma. Despojarlo de su monstruosidad. Lo que también le despoja de su fantasticidad... El objetivo de este artículo es reflexionar sobre las razones que han provocado ese proceso de domesticación del monstruo.

Postmodern fiction has continued to produce all kinds of impossible and disturbing monsters, but at the same time, there are many works (Twilight is a paradigmatic example) that trivialize and / or tame the monster, depriving it of its exceptionality. This provokes a curious phenomenon (that hides an inevitably conservative worldview): by attributing normality to the monster, this creature is incorporated into reality, making it a possible element of the world, and thus depriving it of its original impossible nature by placing it within the norm. The monster is stripped of its monstrosity. What the monster is also stripped of its fantastic dimension... The aim of this article is to reflect on the reasons that have triggered this process of domestication of the monster.
