Este artículo es una aproximación a la tragedia personal que supuso la guerra de Marruecos para los miles de soldados españoles que les tocó luchar en ella. Siguiendo las vicisitudes que vivió el soldado extremeño Vicente Sánchez Marcos, entre 1921 y 1924, desde su reclutamiento hasta su licencia, podemos comprender mejor el drama personal y el desgarro familiar que supuso esta guerra para miles de familias españolas. A Vicente le tocó padecer el episodio más dramático del conflicto, el Desastre de Annual de 1921, será uno de los pocos supervivientes; después le esperaba otra tragedia tan dura como el propio desastre pues caerá prisionero de Ab-el-Krim, el líder que acaudillaba a los rifeños contra España, sufriendo un cautiverio de año y medio. Vicente será de los pocos que vivió para contarlo.
This article is an approach to the personal tragedy that was the war of Morocco for the thousands of Spanish soldiers who had to fight in it. By following the vicissitudes experienced by the Extremaduran soldier Vicente Sánchez Marcos, between 1921 since he and 1924, from his recruitment to his license, we can better understand the personal drama and family tear that this war meant for thousands of Spanish families. Vicente had to suffer the most dramatic episode of the conflict, the Disaster of Annual of 1921, he will be one of the few survivors; then another tragedy as hard as the disaster itself awaited him: he will be taken prisoner by Ab-el-Krim, the leader who led the Rifans against Spain, suffering a year and a half captivity. Vicente will be one of the few who lived to tell about it.
