  Versions de Rilke (1984) i Noves versions de Rilke (1985) són molt més que un servei a la divulgació de literatura alemanya. Per Vinyoli, Rilke representava un exemple de perseverança, de resistir les condicions més adverses amb noblesa i amb dignitat. Amb les seves traduccions, Vinyoli va crear un diàleg tens amb la tradició de tota la poesia europea. La seva poètica és una ètica. Els poemes triats i la manera com estan disposats en aquests dos volums expressen un credo. Vinyoli ens ofereix un trencaclosques fet de fragments, però d’uns fragments que tots junts tenen la capacitat de construir un discurs coherent: mostra per mitjà de Rilke el camí cap a l’aliança òrfica; el que uneix els poemes de l’antologia és la poesia mateixa.

  Versions de Rilke (1984) and Noves versions de Rilke (1985) are much more than a service for the dissemination of German literature. For Vinyoli, Rilke represented an example of perseverance, of how to resist the most adverse conditions with nobility and dignity. With his translations, Vinyoli created a tense dialogue with the tradition of all European poetry. His poetics is an ethic. The chosen poems and the way they are arranged in these two volumes express a creed. Vinyoli offers a puzzle made of fragments, but these fragments all together have the ability to build a coherent discourse. The translator shows through Rilke the Orpheus’ path to the poetic alliance. What unites the poems of anthology is poetry itself.
