El presente trabajo discute el estatuto del Mayflower Compact (1620) como matriz mítica del constitucionalismo americano posterior. Ello es sólo decidible en virtud del propio régimen textual al que el texto se acoge, cuya afinidad con las posteriores Declaraciones y Constitución viene dada en este punto no por virtud de sus contenidos, sino por su misma forma performativa. Pero la comprensión de este régimen textual no puede restringirse al texto mismo, sino que precisa asimismo de una explicitación histórico-política, dada su condición de texto sobrevenido.

This work discusses the status of the Mayflower Compact (1620)as a pretended matrix of the American subsequent constitutionalism. This status is only decidable by attending to the textual regime that the document exercises, whose affinity with the later Declarations and Constitution is patent not because of its contents, but because of its same performative estructure. However, the understanding of this textual regime cannot be restricted to the text itself, as it also demands a historical-political explanation, because of its condition as a supervened disposition.
