Resumen de Negociación aplicada a la formación de coaliciones de gobierno: Análisis del caso de Reino Unido (2010)

  Este artículo tiene por objetivo analizar el proceso de negociación desarrollado para formar una coalición de gobierno tras las elecciones generales realizadas en Reino Unido en mayo de 2010. A partir de la pregunta de ¿qué factores determinaron el resultado de las negociaciones?, se argumenta que la interacción compleja de múltiples factores asociados a los actores, al proceso y al contexto de la negociación condujo a un acuerdo rápido y eficiente. Este resultado inmediato contrasta, sin embargo, con los efectos contradictorios que tuvo el acuerdo para las partes y las consecuencias inesperadas generadas sobre el funcionamiento del sistema político. El estudio refleja la necesidad de avanzar hacia una convergencia teórica que permita consolidar en marcos analíticos coherentes la heterogeneidad de hipótesis disponibles en la literatura sobre coaliciones y negociaciones.

  The purpose of this paper is to analyze the negotiation process developed to form a government coalition after the general elections held in the United Kingdom in May 2010. Based on the question of what factors determined the outcome of the negotiations?, it’s argued that the complex interaction of multiple factors associated with the actors, process and context of the negotiation led to a quick and efficient agreement.

  This immediate result contrasts, however, with the contradictory effects that the agreement had for both parties and the unexpected consequences it generated on the functioning of the political system. The analysis illustrates the need to move towards a theoretical convergence that allows the heterogeneity of hypotheses available in the literature on coalitions and negotiations to be consolidated in coherent frameworks.
