    El artículo analiza el rol del Estado para el desarrollo en tres contextos diferentes de producción teórica de la Cepal: un primer momento estructuralista, de centralidad estatal indiscutida; un segundo momento, que denominamos estructuralismo tardío, donde predomina una postura más crítica de la naturaleza del Estado para el desarrollo; y un tercer momento, situado bajo el período neo-estructuralista, que diluye la anterior centralidad del Estado. Se argumenta que el paso del estructuralismo al neo-estructuralismo se caracteriza por el desplazamiento de aquellas importantes contribuciones que fueron emergiendo bajo el estructuralismo tardío para problematizar el desarrollo latinoamericano desde una perspectiva sociopolítica y por una notable dilución del rol del Estado como actor central en la estrategia de desarrollo latinoamericana.

    The paper analyses the role of the state for Latin American development in Eclac’s theoretical production. To do so, three different contexts of analysis are identified: First, structuralism, characterized by an undisputed centrality of the state.

    Second, late structuralism, where a more critical analysis predominates regarding the nature of the state. And, third, neo-structuralism, a renew proposal that dilutes the former centrality of the state. It is argued that the shift from structuralism to neostructuralism is characterized by the displacement of those important contributions that emerged under late structuralism to problematize Latin American development from a sociopolitical perspective, and by a remarkable dilution of the role of the State as a central actor in the Latin American development strategy.
