    Discutir o papel do Serviço Social no quadro das atuais vulnerabilidades laborais e apostar numa intervenção promotora da igualdade de oportunidades entre todos os trabalhadores e de defesa dos seus direitos fundamentais requer por parte do Serviço Social uma leitura profunda da complexidade do mundo em que vivemos e um entendimento dos desafios e das possibilidades que se colocam à sua intervenção neste campo. Neste reconhecimento, procuramos na primeira parte deste artigo refletir sobre os impactos que o quadro da complexidade atual, sobretudo o que decorre do mercado de trabalho, tem no exercício profissional do assistente social e na configuração do seu espaço de atuação dentro das empresas, para numa segunda parte discutir os desafios (externos e internos) que tais alterações colocam aos profissionais que intervêm neste campo específico, não apenas ao nível da revisão das suas competências científicas e técnico-operativas, mas também do seu compromisso ético com os objetivos da profissão.

    To discuss the role of Social Work in the context of current labour vulnerabilities and bet on an intervention that promotes equal opportunities for all workers and the protection of their fundamental rights requires Social Workers a thorough reading of the complexity of the world in which we live in and a clear understanding of the challenges and possibilities in this field of intervention. In this recognition, we seek in the first part of this article to reflect on the impacts that the framework of the current complexity, especially that arising from the labour market, has in the professional practice of social worker and in the configuration of its space of action within enterprises. In the second part we’ll discuss the challenges (external and internal) that these changes pose to the professionals involved in this specific field, not only in terms of the review of their scientific and technical-operational competences, but also of their ethical commitment to the objectives of the profession.
