  En este artículo se analizan las relaciones establecidas entre el filósofo francés Jacques Maritain y el Partido Nacionalista Vasco (PNV) entre los años de la Guerra Civil y la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Tras explicar brevemente la evolución ideológica del Partido Nacionalista Vasco (PNV) durante la Segunda República —necesaria para entender el engarce con Maritain— y los porqués de su opción republicana en la Guerra Civil, se examina la colaboración del filósofo francés con los nacionalistas vascos, tanto durante la Guerra Civil como en los años de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, y se reflexiona sobre el significado de dicha colaboración.

  This article examines the relationship between French philosopher Jacques Maritain and the Basque Nationalist Party, known in Spanish as the Partido Nacional Vasco (PNV). The focus is on the period between the Spanish Civil War and World War II. In order to understand the connection with Mairtain’s ideas, the article begins by exploring the evolution of the party’s political ideology during the Second Spanish Republic. Why did the PNV choose to back the Republic in the Civil War? The article then focuses on Maritain’s collaboration with Basque nationalists, both during the Civil War and the Second World War. Finally, a reflection is made on the significance of this collaboration.
