  • The article focuses on seismic research for in Nepal concerning the lack of significant earthquakes in the western part of the country using sedimentary cores from the bottom of Rara Lake. It mentions concerns over the lack of significant earthquakes recorded in western Nepal since 1505 which suggested a catastrophic earthquake could occur in the near future. It states sediment cores found evidence of at least eight avalanches since 1505 which were likely caused by moderate to large earthquakes.
