Resumen de El héroe lector: Ulises y otros "Riders on the storm" de Roberto Bolaño

El presente ensayo investiga el problema del héroe en la obra del escritor chileno Roberto Bolaño (1953-2003) en el contexto del mundo degradado, los héroes antiguos y la evolución de la forma de la novela. En la “Introducción a los problemas de una sociología de la novela” Lucien Goldmann describe este género como “la transposición al plano literario de la vida cotidiana en la sociedad individualista nacida de la producción para el mercado”. Según el pensador rumano, el desarrollo de la forma de la novela corresponde a la evolución de la sociedad. Siguiendo a Goldmann, que pretende describir las etapas de la evolución de la novela en varios estadios de capitalismo, en el presente trabajo intentamos leer la obra de Bolaño como representante de la época del capitalismo globalizado. Yuxtaponemos sus escritos con varios textos analizados por Goldmann con el objetivo de proponer una reflexión sobre el “héroe problemático”, su “búsqueda degradada” y la relación del autor con el lector, invitado a participar en dicha búsqueda, en la obra del escritor chileno.

This essay investigates the problem of the hero in the Works of the Chilean author Roberto Bolaño (1953-2003) in the context of the degraded world, ancient heroes, and the evolution of the novel form. In the “Introduction to the Problems of a Sociology of the Novel” Lucien Goldmann describes this genre as “the transposition on the literary plane of everyday life in the individualistic society created by market production”. According to the Romanian philosopher, the development of the form of the novel is homologous to the evolution of the society. Inspired by the work of Goldmann, who tries to describe the stages of the novel’s evolution in different phases of capitalism, this essay aims at reading the works of Bolaño as representative of global capitalism. Bolaño’s texts are juxtaposed with various writings analysed by Goldmann, in order to offer a deliberation on the subjects of the “problematic hero”, his “degraded quest”, and the relationship between the author and the reader, invited to join said quest, in the works of the Chilean author.
