In this paper the birth of the «town of the citizens» is characterized as a different fact from the oriental town, as it is posible to notice through the concept of Plato's and Aristotle's ideal town. After this, the author reviews the Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic urbanism and concludes that there are five extant general principies in the Greek urbanistic expresions.
