El fundador del Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Vilafamés, el crítico de arte Vicente Aguilera Cerni, fue líder ideológico en varios movimientos artísticos que surgieron durante el franquismo en España. En especial, destacó su intervención en la corriente Crónica de la Realidad, que unió la estética revisada de la pintura figurativa con el compromiso político del antifranquismo. La generación de jóvenes universitarios que crecieron con la revolución cultural de Mayo del 68, al visitar este museo encuentra el mundo iconográfico que acompañó aquella época. Es un universo de imágenes que va desde el desgarro humano de Genovés al onirismo mediterráneo de Joan Miró, sin olvidar la revisión del arte que realiza Equipo Realidad, la geometría óptica de Yturralde y Javier Calvo, y el arte cinético de Eusebio Sempere. A estos visitantes también les produce admiración el trabajo de los artistas del exilio español: Renau, Alberto Sánchez, Manuel Ángeles Ortiz y Manuel Viola, entre otros.

Art critic Vicente Aguilera Cerni (founder of Vilafames’ Museum of Contemporary Art), was the ideological leader in several artistic movements that arose during the years of the Franco regime in Spain. Especially remarkable was his involvement in the «Crónica de la Realidad» movement, that combined the revised aesthetics on figurative painting with the political commitment against Franco. The generation of university students that grew up with the cultural revolution of May 1968 find by visiting this museum the iconographic universe that came along during that period. It’s a universe of images that encompasses material from Genoves’ human anguish to Joan Miro’s mediterranean onirism, along with Equipo Crónica and Equipo Realidad’s fresh reading of Art history, Yturralde and Javier Calvo’s optical geometry and Eusebio Sempere’s kinetic art. These visitors will also feel admiration towards the work of Spanish exiled artists such as Josep Renau, Alberto Sánchez, Manuel Ángeles Ortiz and Manuel Viola among others.
