Resumen de Proyecto del Fórum 2004 y restauración del río Besòs

El proyecto del Fórum 2004 y del río Besos continuó las propuestas de los Juegos Olímpicos de 1992 de recuperación de las playas para la ciudad y de la transformación de usos de zonas industriales obsoletas.
Se trataba de una zona litoral abandonada y en parte ocupada por tres grandes infraestructuras, depuradora, incineradora y producción eléctrica, y un río contaminado, que necesitaban una restauración urbana y ambiental.
Fue un proyecto unitario de construcción de un área central de la ciudad mediante usos diversos, recuperando el frente litoral e integrando las infraestructuras renovadas. Al mismo tiempo incorporó la restauración ambiental del río Besos convertido en parque de los municipios del entorno.
La realización en este ámbito del Fórum Universal de las Culturas 2004, permitió reunir las inversiones necesarias y el conjunto de proyectos pertinentes para realizar, en un corto espacio de tiempo, una actuación relevante para el conjunto de la ciudad.

The Forum 2004 and Besos River project continued the proposals of the 1992 Olympic Games far the recovery of the waterfront far the city and the transformation of obsolete industrial areas.
This concerned an abandoned waterfront area, partially occupied by three large infrastructures; a water treatment plant, incineration plant and power plant, together with a polluted river, that all required urban and environmental redevelopment.
This was a unifying construction project of a central area in the city far diverse uses, by recovering the waterfront and integrating the renovated infrastructures. The project similarly incorporated the environmental restoration of the Besos River, which was converted into a park far the surrounding municipalities.
The holding of the Universal Forum of Cultures in 2004 served as a means of collecting the necessary investment and the series of projects to be performed, within a short period of time, in a highly relevant action far the city as a whole.
