Anotaciones sobre la posibilidad o imposibilidad de prevenir las conductas violentas. ¿Qué se entiende por hombre o mujer no violento, por ciudadanía no violenta y por sociedades no violentas? No existe una visión neutra sobre la cuestión de la violencia. Con frecuencia hay demasiadas miradas violentas sobre la violencia. Educar es aprender a descubrir por qué necesitamos enemigos y cuáles son los reales, si es que existen. Hay que recordar que detrás de algunas conductas violentas hay entornos de pobreza, marginalidad y exclusión. Desde esta perspectiva la primera medida preventiva es la lucha contra la exclusión. Y a partir de aquí, se pueden construir ciudadanos que no necesiten recurrir a la violencia para convivir.

This articles features notes on the possibility or impossibility of preventing violent behaviour. What is understood as a non-violent man or woman, non-violent citizenry or non-violent societies? There is not a neutral view of violence; it is frequently the subject of too many violent perspectives. Educating means learning to discover why we need enemies, and which of them are real, if many exist. It must be borne in mind that behind certain violent behaviours there are environments of poverly, marginalisation and exclusion. From such a vantage point, the first pre-emptive step is to fight against exclusion. From there on, citizens who do not need to resort to violence to coexist may be developed.
