Resumen de Cultura do estupro: considerações sobre violência sexual, feminismo e Análise do Comportamento

  The feminist movement uses the expression “rape culture” in order to argue that sexual violent behaviors are contextually understood, which means they are not isolated acts or an effect of internal psychological agents. Considering that feminism and Behavior Analysis are compatible and that this compatibility might be an asset to change unfair and oppressive social practices, the goal of this article is to introduce a behavioral analysis of cultural practices and behaviors which are present in a rape culture from feminist perspectives. The members of a patriarchal culture shape people’s behavior and give models depending on their biological sex. Also, people learn gender roles by equivalence relations. The differences between genders are uneven, because men usually have more access to reinforcers like money. It is argued that the frequent images of aggressive men and sexualized and objectified women on the media and pornography serve as model to sexual aggressive behavior. The verbal community behave in ways that justify, deny or minimize the existence of sexual violence. These types of behavior are called rape myths, which often have different functions for men and women.

  Male’s aggressive behavior is reinforced and rarely has aversive consequences. Moreover, women hardly ever have proper support during and after being sexually assaulted. Possible reasons for this is that bystanders attribute responsibility to the victim or do not recognize that a violence is happening. Also, their omissive behavior is negatively reinforced by avoiding conflict. The low percentage of guilty verdicts in cases of rape may partially explain why women often do not search public help. The authors state that a rape culture can be seen, in behavioral terms, as a set of contingencies that encourage and/or allow violent sexual practices and a set of sexually abusive response classes, from subtle behaviors to actual rape, all of which happen in a patriarchal context.

  O movimento feminista tem usado a expressão cultura do estupro para defender que compor-tamentos sexualmente violentos são explicados contextualmente, não se tratando de ocorrên-cias isoladas ou de efeitos de agentes psicológicos internos. Considerando a compatibilidade entre feminismo e Análise do Comportamento e que esta pode ser uma ferramenta de transfor-mação de práticas sociais injustas e opressivas, o objetivo deste artigo consiste em apresen-tar uma análise comportamental de práticas culturais e comportamentos presentes na cultura do estupro a partir de considerações feministas. Foram empregados conceitos da Análise do Comportamento como modelagem, modelação e equivalência de estímulos para discutir a categorização por gênero, os modelos midiáticos de papéis sexuais, o conceito de mitos sobre estupro e como nos comportamos em função deles, as práticas de culpabilização da vítima e seu acolhimento e o processo de justiça relacionado à violência sexual. Ao final, aponta-se que a cultura do estupro pode ser caracterizada, em termos comportamentais, por um conjunto de contingências que são encorajadoras e/ou permissivas com práticas sexuais violentas e por um conjunto de classes de comportamentos sexualmente abusivos, dos mais sutis ao estupro, que ocorrem no contexto patriarcal.
