El Patrimonio Fotográfico: la fototeca Municipal de Sevilla.

    Con la toma de conciencia de la necesidad de salvaguardar y difundir la fotografía por su valor como fuente histórica y el respaldo de legislación entonces vigente, que incorporaba el documento fotográfico como elemento de pleno derecho al Patrimonio Histórico y Cultural, el Ayuntamiento de Sevilla emprendió la recuperación de la memoria gráfica de la ciudad mediante la adquisición en 1985 del archivo Serrano, todo un reto dadas sus particularidades frente a otros documentos tradicionales. Es el punto de partida de la Sección Fotográfica de la Hemeroteca Municipal (1989) y de la futura Fototeca (2000), integrada en el Servicio de Archivo, Hemeroteca y Publicaciones. Entre sus objetivos se encuentran la gestión del patrimonio documental municipal de carácter fotográfico, ampliado a fondos de procedencia administrativa, y la creación de un centro de documentación construido sobre la base del valor de la fotografía de prensa como documento histórico. Todo ello en línea con la democratización de los servicios públicos en una sociedad plural con nuevas demandas de información. En este contexto, la Fototeca, debe iniciar un necesario proceso de adaptación en la gestión del conocimiento y la difusión de sus fondos, tras la revolución producida en el ámbito de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación.

    With the awareness of the need to safeguard and disseminate photography for its value as a historical source and the support of the legislation then in force, which incorporated the photographic document as a full element to the historical and cultural heritage, the city of Seville undertook the recovery of the graphic memory of the city through the acquisition in 1985 of the Serrano file. This was a challenge given its particularities compared to other traditional documents. It was the starting point of the Photographic Section of the Municipal Newspaper Library (1989) and the later born Photo Library (2000), part of the Archives, Newspaper Library and Publications Service. Among its objectives are the management of photographic local heritage, whose funding was extended to administrative sources, and the creation of a documentation center built on the basis of the value of press photography as a historical document. All this in line with the democratization of public services in a plural society with new demands for information. In this context, the Photo Library should initiate a necessary process of adaptation in knowledge management and dissemination of their funds, after the revolution occurred in the field of information and communications technology.
