Los medios tradicionales están incorporando a sus ediciones digitales el formato de publicación blog, un instrumento popularizado en la red para editar de forma sencilla contenidos en Internet. El estudio se centra en describir, a partir de un análisis cuantitativo y cualitativo de dos diarios digitales europeos, Elmundo. es y Guardian. co. uk, cómo se usan periodísticamente esos blogs, qué características tienen y cómo desarrollan algunos de los rasgos más notorios del mensaje digital y que, en diferente medida, los weblogs han asumido o profundizado: hipertexto, interacción, instantaneidad y multimedialidad.

The mainstream media have introduced into their digital editions a new format of publishing, the blog, a popular tool used in Internet that makes the edition of the content online easier. I focused the study on describing how Elmundo. es and Guardian. co. uk use their blogs for journalistic purposes, which are their main features as blogs and how they utilize some of the characteristics of the digital message (hypertext, interaction, multimedia and instantaneity), features that the blogs have also incorporated to some extent.
