Resumen de “Fazer crer”: as imagens nos manuscritos da Légende Dorée

This article offers an overview of the visual culture that emerges in the Late Middle Ages, based on new visual patterns. The images of Légende Dorée (c.1348-1500) are within this context, offering us, in general, a rich visual repertoire on the saints. We present the set of codices selected for study and the methodology of its composition, as well as how the images are arranged in relation to the text: the most frequent themes, faded or inspired representations of the text, position of illustrations on the folio among others. We also presented methodological questions about image analysis.

Neste artigo oferece-se um panorama sobre a cultura visual que surge na Baixa Idade Média, fundando-se em novos padrões de visualidade. As imagens da Légende Dorée (c.1348-1500) estão dentro desse contexto, oferecendo-nos, de forma geral, um rico repertório visual sobre os santos. Apresenta-se o conjunto de códices selecionados para estudo e a metodologia de sua composição, além da forma como se dispõem as imagens em relação ao texto: os temas mais frequentes, representações que fogem ou são inspiradas no próprio texto, posição das ilustrações no fólio dentre outros. Questões metodológicas sobre a análise de imagens também são abordadas.
