  • Specifi cations are one of the fundamental documents needed to drive the adequate design and execution of structures in the built environment. However, there is a growing tendency for specifi ers to blindly re-use specifi cations prepared for previous projects without review and without considering the negative eff ects of such practice.

    Last month’s Business Practice Note1 set the scene for specifi cation writing. This month, we examine the risks that can result from such careless practice and off er solutions to eliminate or reduce those risks.
