Resumen de Dal protocollo di Firenze al protocollo di Corfù. La questione dell’Epiro settentrionale e gli interessi politici e militari italiani verso l’Adriatico meridionale

Fabrizio Rudi

  • This essay has been conceived with a double aim: on one hand, in order to show that, shortly before the beginning of the Great War, the influence of the Italian diplomacy in the European and Mediterranean geopolitical balances, although heavily conditioned, as like as the other Powers, by the British political choices, wasn’t devoid of significance, and in the other hand, in order to try to disprove the opinion, which attaches to the Italian Foreign Policy disloyalty over the Triple Alliance.

This study contains a detailed reconstruction of the political experience of the Autonomous Republic of the Northern Epirus, some considerations over the need to neutralize, on the military point of view, the Straits of Corfu, and the role of the Italian diplomacy during the works of the International Committee for the delimitation of the southern Albanian boundary, as so as some reflection over the main features of the Foreign Policy of the Marquis Antonino di San Giuliano, whose pillars were: loyalty to the Triple Alliance, territorial unity of the Albanian State, and regard toward him as instrument of diplomatic action.
