    Este artículo, dedicado al cuento de Miguel de Unamuno titulado Mecanópolis, analiza el contenido y significación del escrito y su relación con la evolución intelectual de su autor a propósito de las consecuencias preocupantes de un mundo regido por la presencia de las máquinas. Advierte el autor sobre la creciente idolatría a la mecanización y un sentido del progreso y del cientificismo errados en su concepción de la condición humana. También se destacan algunos de los rasgos de las distopías tecnológicas y cientificistas, de las que Unamuno se hará eco en este relato, homologable con el género especulativo del pensamiento utópico. Por medio de imágenes y símbolos con valor poético recurrentes en su obra, entre otros, el desierto, el oasis, la sed y el vergel, Unamuno apuesta por recuperar la centralidad de la cuestión antropológica

    This article, dedicated to the story by Miguel de Unamuno entitled Mecanópolis, analyzes the content and meaning of the writing and its relation to the intellectual evolution of its author to explain the worrying consequences of a world ruled by machines. The author warns about the growing idolatry of mechanization and a sense of progress and scientism that are wrong in his conception of the human condition. It also highlights some of the features of technological and scientific dystopias, of which Unamuno will echo in this story, comparable to the speculative utopian thought. Through images and symbols with recurrent poetic value in his work, among others, the desert, the oasis, the thirst and the orchard, Unamuno bets to recover the centrality of the anthropological question.
