The fallen king of planet hunters is looking on the sunny side. Despite the loss of its precision steering in May, NASA's Kepler space telescope may hunt planets again--by carefully balancing nudges from the sun that would otherwise put it ma spin. Since May, there have been various ideas for how to rehabilitate the ailing telescope, but at a meeting last week at the NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field CA the Kepler team said that it would ask NASA to fund this one, dubbed K2.
