The article questions the readings of Pd. XXXI 85 which keep giving a moral meaning to the term “libertate”, analyzes Beatrice’s mission in Paradise and finally states that her role as the spokesperson and messenger of divine truth consists in transforming Dante into a cantor veritatis and a prophet.
