Sara Ortiz Pérez, José Manuel Caro Teller, Marta González Sevilla, Carmen García Muñoz, José Miguel Ferrari Piquero

  • Administration of intrathecal antibiotics in Central Nervous System infections associated with the use of intracranial devices is controversial, as there is hardly any literature support. We present the case of a patient with postoperative bacterial ventriculitis secondary to a multiresistant Klebsiella pneumoniae infection, and decided to treat it with intrathecal amikacin. This case highlights the importance of the multidisciplinary collaboration and participation of the pharmacist who relying on the Assisted Electronic Prescribing System, guaranteed its adequate preparation and administration, avoiding complications derived from its inappropriate use
