Resumen de Mercado lingüístico y variación sociofonética en los informativos de la Televisión Canaria

A partir de la existencia de las actitudes lingüísticas negativas de los hablantes canarios hacia su propia variedad, el presente trabajo investiga la variación fonética en los informativos de la Televisión Canaria enfocando el exceso de realizaciones estándares. Se parte del hecho de que las actitudes lingüísticas negativas y la inseguridad lingüística son perceptibles en los medios de comunicación en aquellos hablantes cuya función está directamente relacionada con el mercado lingüístico. Para demostrar esta hipótesis se analizan las realizaciones de cuatro fonemas de la lengua española en la expresión oral de los presentadores, corresponsales y entrevistados en cinco programas informativos de la Televisión Canaria. Con respecto a los resultados obtenidos se enfatiza la importancia del mercado lingüístico y del carácter polifónico y planificado del lenguaje de las telenoticias como factores relevantes que influyen en el número elevado de realizaciones estándares en el habla de los presentadores y reporteros canarios.

From the existence of negative linguistic attitudes of Canarian speakers towards their own variety, the present paper investigates the phonetic variation on the Canary Television (Televisión Canaria) news, focusing on the excess of standard Spanish sounds. The study is based on the fact that the negative linguistic attitudes and linguistic insecurity are perceptible in the media in those speakers whose function is directly related to the linguistic market. To prove this hypothesis four phonemes of the Spanish language and their phonetic realizations are analyzed in the speech of the presenters, reporters and interviewees in five news programs of Canary Television. The obtained results emphasize the importance of the linguistic market andthe polyphonic and planned character of the language on television news as relevant factors affecting the disproportionate number of standard performances in announcers’ and reporters’ speech.
