En 1910 tiene lugar en Buenos Aires el primer Congreso Femenino. Ese Congreso y otros que hubo a ambos lados del Atlántico están muy influidos por las primeras exposiciones internacionales y por otros encuentros de mujeres (Paris 1878, Madrid 1892, Londre s 1899, Berlín 1904, y Amsterdam 1908). En todos ellos se debatió sobre la necesidad de profundizar en la educación de las mujeres, y planeaba el tema de la consecución del derecho al voto de éstas. El Congreso de Buenos Aires se hace gracias al impulso de Julieta Lanteri y de la Aso- ciación de Universitarias argentinas, de tendencia más feminista, aun- que estaba muy presente también el Congreso Nacional de mujeres, de tendencia más conservadora. En el Congreso se habló de educación femenina y de pacifismo y el tema del sufragio quedó claramente relegado.
In 1910 the first Women's Congress took place in Buenos Aires. This Congress and others that took place on both sides of the Atlantic are very influenced by the first international exhibitions and by other women's meetings (Paris 1878, Madrid 1892, London 1899, Berlin 1904, and Amsterdam 1908). All of them debated the need to deepen women's education, and planned the issue of achieving wom- en's right to vote. The Congress of Buenos Aires was made thanks to the impulse of Julieta Lanteri and the Association of Argentine Uni- versity Women, with a more feminist tendency, although the National Congress of Women, with a more conservative tendency, was also very present. In the Congress, women's education and pacifism were discussed and the issue of suffrage was clearly relegated.
