  • Resumen
    • As a young discipline Computer Science suffers from a crisis of identity when trying to best approach research problemsand conduct quality and rigorous scientific work. This is commonly handled by borrowing scientific methods from maturedisciplines, such as Mathematics and Logic theories. However, whilst the object of investigation in Computer Sciencechanges both the construction of theories describing it and the growing practical experience in its usage, accepted scientificmethods do not respond well to interplaying with theoretical and practical approaches. Particularly, emergentinterdisciplinary fields within Computer Science, such as Online Education, show no consensus in literature about well-defined methods to conduct systematic research, thus facing difficulties to deal with interdisciplinary research andmethodological gaps. The ultimate goal of this study is to shed light on these difficulties whilst proposing methodologicalguidelines and good practices in order to foster sound research in the Online Education field.
