    La historia refleja la vida de Jean-Pierre, un médico rural con treinta años de servicio en la campiña francesa. Su vida y profesión están dedicadas por entero a sus pacientes, pero se verán alteradas al recibir el diagnóstico de un tumor cerebral. El tratamiento a seguir implicará una serie de cambios en su rutina (él pretende que sean mínimos); entre ellos está la aceptación de una médico recién graduada, Nathalie, que lo sustituirá y ayudará cuando tenga que acudir a las sesiones de quimioterapia en el hospital de la ciudad. Sin embargo, Nathalie tendrá dificultades para ganarse la confianza de Jean-Pierre, un mal paciente y de carácter difícil. No obstante, una vez despejadas todas las dudas y superadas las tensiones, ella le servirá de gran apoyo. La plena entrega de ambos personajes a su profesión nos mostrará la diferente práctica profesional de la medicina, la rural y la urbana. Aunque, a juicio del protagonista, los dos tipos de intervención médica persigan reparar con el fin de luchar contra la barbarie que supone la enfermedad y la muerte.

    The story reflects the life of Jean-Pierre, a rural doctor with thirty years of service in the French countryside. His life and profession are entirely dedicated to his patients, but they will be altered when he receives the diagnosis of a brain tumor. The treatment to follow will involve a series of changes in his routine (he pretends that they are minimal); among them is the acceptance of a newly graduated doctor, Nathalie, who will replace him and help when he must go to the chemotherapy sessions in the city hospital. However, Nathalie will have difficulties to gain the trust of Jean-Pierre, a bad patient and difficult character. However, once all doubts have been cleared and tensions have been overcome, she will be very supportive.The full dedication of both characters to their profession, will show us the different professional practice of medicine, rural and urban. Although, in the opinion of the protagonist, the two types of medical intervention seek to repair to fight against the barbarism that is the disease and death.
