Ibn Rushd y la “única tradición materialista”

    El propósito del presente ensayo es explorar la posible relación entre el pensamiento de Ibn Rushd, particularmente su crítica del saber teológico tradicional y su teoría del cuerpo social, con lo que el filósofo francés Louis Althusser llama “corriente subterránea” del materialismo, y en otras ocasiones, “única tradición materialista”. Para ello confrontamos la teoría del materialismo de Althusser doblemente con aquellos autores que él mismo autoriza a considerar como parte de dicha “corriente” (especialmente Maquiavelo, uno de los nombres más importantes para esta hipótesis de “historia” del pensamiento) y la problemática rushdiana del cuerpo, el espacio público y la confrontación con la teología y el poder pastoral de su época, especialmente la teología asharí.

    The purpose of the present essay is to explore the possible relationship between Ibn Rushd’s thought, particulary his critic of traditional theologic kwnoledge and his theory of social body, with the concept of “only materialist tradition”, also called undercurrent of the materialism of encounter. For that, we confront Althusser’s theory of materialism whit those authors that Althusser considered as part of this “undercurrent” (especially Machiavelli, one of the most important names for this hypothesis of “history” of thought), and the Ibin Rushd’s problematic of body, public space and the confrontation with theology and pastoral power of his days, especially the Ashari theology.
