In Spanish Imperial System during XVI and XVII centuries the institution of viceroy is the structural answer to the ausentismo permanente of the king: the viceroy consolidates the deep relationship between the Monarchy and the reinos, the unique sovereignty in the all reinos. He is an alter ego, imago principis: also represents his nature, the two king’s bodies (Kantorowicz). The institution of viceroy shows a structural ambiguity between dignitas, as taking part of the sovereignty, the legal ownership of power, and officium, as the top of the exercise of power. That’s the specific translation of the Modern State and the theory of the two king’s bodies in Spanish Imperial System.
