  • Practical work is an important part of the educational process. In this paper the requirements, hardware and softwarearchitecture development and the implementation of an aquaponics embedded device (laboratory model SmartVegeTech)are presented. This system has the possibilities of remote control, rich user interface and other features. TheSmartVegeTech system could be used in education in different engineering fields such as control engineering, processengineering, software engineering, as well as agricultural engineering. The educational tasks in control engineering as wellas initial feed back from students will be presented.
