The article presents an editorial looking at the establishment of the Poussaint-Satcher-Cosby Chair in Mental Health at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. The first incumbent of the chair is David Satcher. In discussing the mind-body connection between physical and mental health, the article states that primary care physicians need more mental health training during their residencies and in their continuing medical education programs. The article examines the affects of racism, poverty, and oppression of Blacks in the U.S. over centuries and mental health services in Black communities.
