    O mel é um produto natural, elaborado pelas abelhas, a partir do néctar das flores. É um alimento nutritivo e energético, sendo muito apreciado por suas propriedades terapêuticas. É composto de açúcares e de água, em maior porcentagem; em outras pequenas quantidades, encontra-se vitaminas e sais minerais. Para o mel manter as características e as propriedades, são necessários cuidados na hora de manejar e manipular, para o mel não sofrer transformações químicas que prejudiquem sua qualidade final. Para verificar a pureza e a alteração na qualidade do mel, realizaram-se análises físico-químicas para controlar a qualidade final e conhecer melhor o produto.

    Honey is a natural product that comes from the nectar of flowers and made by bees. It is very nutritious and energetic, and it is also appreciated for its therapeutic properties. It is constituted by sugars and water in a higher percentage, and vitamins and dietary minerals in other small quantities.

    Special care when handling honey is necessary, so that its characteristics and properties are kept and the honey does not suffer chemical transformations which may harm the quality of its final product. In order to check the purity and the alterations in the quality of honey, physic-chemical analyses were carried out as a control of the final quality and better knowledge of the product.
