  • The article focuses on a tendency for visual artists to create feature films. A list of some artists who create feature films that went through the international film festival circuit is presented, including Shirin Neshat. Among the factors that contribute to this tendency include the backer's willingness to invest in expensive productions and the desire to reach an audience outside the world of art. It also describes the marginalization of experimental cinema in the early 1990s.
