  • Resumen
    • The article discusses the artist's signature's long history of deconstruction. It includes the denial of craftsmanship and authorship through Marcel Duchamp, the formation of a signature style through Robert Ryman and Marcel Broodthaers and the dissolution of the artist's subjectivity through Josh Smith. Duchamp's "Fountain" features a porcelain urinal inverted on a pedestal signed by Richard Mutt. In "Fountain," signature acts as a form of nominal. Meanwhile, Ryman employed the device to call signature style into question.
