  • The article discusses the impact of performer Lady Gaga on pop performance art. Lady Gaga's attempt to be viewed as a contemporary artist is shown in her creation of images that shock the public and spectacles that fascinate the audience. Lady Gaga embodies on stage the personas of outsiders such as transsexuals, weird and gays and she uses plenty of costumes on stage to show the multiplicity of identity. Analysts say that Lady Gaga's vision of pop performance art is a reinvention of the ego and the fusion of symbolic and theoretical perceptions.
