The article discusses the work of various Hungarian artists, paying particular focus to how they each explore their country's Communist and post-socialist eras. Artists discussed include Tamás Dezső, the collective known as Société Réaliste (co-founded by the Hungarian-born Ferenc Gróf), Gyula Várnai, Adám Kokesch, Ádám Albert and Gábor Gerhes.
