The article discusses various Japanese artists who have created artworks in response to the earthquake and tsunami which struck the country on March 11, 2011. Featured artists include: Tadasu Takamine, Koki Tanaka, Teppei Kaneuji, Masaya Chiba, Tsuyoshi Ozawa, and Motoyuki Shitamichi. The author argues that the aforementioned artists have all used their work to embrace the pain that permeates post-earthquake society in Japan.
