The article examines the life and work of the contemporary artist Sterling Ruby. Particular focus is given to his artists' studio in Vernon, California. Additional topics discussed include his work in mixed media sculpture and video art, his use of trash and garbage as an art material and his training in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
