  • The article profiles Kiel, Germany-born painter Tomma Abts. According to the author, Abts' work is composed of forms painstakingly assembled in compositions that are so complex as they are contradictory. Her paintings, the author states, display balance without symmetry, movement and depth without optical tricks and luminosity without the harshness of bright color.
