  • During 2017, the second season of archaeological excavations was carried out in the Korres Castle area, with a twofold purpose. Firstly, the archaeological restoration work carried out on the walls delimiting the castle’s enclosure was monitored and pertinent advice offered. And secondly, two sondages were carried out inside the main enclosure with the aim of assessing the potential of the archaeological deposits and identifying useful elements for their morphological and chronological definition. More specifically, the northern access door to the castle enclosure was restored and consolidated, and a stairway was identified leading up to the ramparts walk.

    The structures date from between the 13th and 15th centuries.
