Diversas muestras de la carpintería de lo blanco permiten analizar la pervivencia de la tradición andalusí en Palma del Río, que contó con una de las aljamas más pobladas de Andalucía tras la reconquista. El interés de los señores de Palma por mantener este contingente humano en régimen de vasallaje sin duda favoreció una tradición artística que hoy se nos revela a través de diversas techumbres, puertas de canceles y retablos repartidos entre las fundaciones más importantes de la villa, como son el convento de Santa Clara, Santo Domingo, el antiguo hospital de San Sebastián, el convento de San Francisco y la iglesia parroquial de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción; muestras que abarcan un amplio periodo que comprende desde la segunda mitad del siglo XV hasta el XVIII avanzado, momento en que el lazo apeinazado convive perfectamente adaptado con los motivos más característicos del barroco tardío, siendo testimonio de la versatilidad del arte en madera producido aún bajo el influjo andalusí.

Several samples of wood framework let us analyze the survival of the Andalusian tradition in Palma del Río, which had one of the most populous Moorish communities of Andalusia after the Reconquest. The interest of the lords of Palma to keep this human contingent under a vassalage regime certainly fostered an artistic tradition that today is revealed through several marquetry ceilings, wooden screens and altarpieces doors distributed among the main foundations of the town, such as the convent of Saint Claire, Saint Dominique, the old Hospital of Saint Sebastian, Saint Francis convent and the parish church of Our Lady of the Assumption, samples covering a wide period extended since the second half of the fifteenth century to the eighteenth century advanced, when the apeinazado loop coexists perfectly adapted to the characteristic motives of the late Baroque, being witness to the versatility of wood art produced even under the Andalusian influence.
