The medieval and post-medieval production of iron was determined by the existence of mineral veins, the abundance of fuel and the availability of water courses for obtaining hydraulic energy. Three conditions that have in common just a number of European regions, being one of those the north of Navarre. Even so, Navarre has not had an equivalent bibliographic realization to the provinces that is surrounded by. Therefore this paper will deal with the mining and iron metallurgy in the north of Navarre, analyzing from an historical and archaeological point of view five study cases.
