Efectividad de una intervención educativa de higiene bucal en adolescentes

    El estudio se realizó para demostrar el rol de la Odontología Preventiva en la actualidad y la participación activa del proceso enseñanza aprendizaje, donde alumnos educandos se convierten en educadores transmitiendo la explicación de una técnica de cepillado específica como la de Bass Modificada, a pacientes que concurren a la clínica. El estudio descriptivo estuvo conformado por 100 historias clínicas de pacientes adolescentes de ambos sexos, entre 15 a 25 años, a quienes se le realizó el Índice de O'Leary inicial, requisito indispensable en la confección de toda historia clínica para la caracterización del paciente; luego a los siete días, un segundo Índice de O'Leary. El 53% de los pacientes eran de sexo masculino y 47% femenino. Del total de los masculinos el 60% presentó en el primer control niveles no compatibles con salud, que disminuyeron notablemente en el segundo control a 22%, mediante la utilización de la técnica de Bass modificada. Del total de sexo femenino, en el primer control 36% fueron incompatibles con salud, porcentaje que disminuyó notablemente en el segundo control a 14%.

    El O´Leary es un índice que refleja la higiene bucal. La sustancia reveladora utilizada para su registro, incentiva para realizar una correcta técnica de acción mecánica de barrido de la biopelicula dental, por medio del cepillado bucal, manteniendo niveles aceptables de salud.

    The aim of this study is show the role of preventive dental at present whit an active participation of students in the process of education, where the students became in educator communicating a proper and specific way of brushing technique like Bass Modified technique to the patients who came to the clinic A descriptive study was carried out on 100 teenagers medic history of both sex between 15 - 25 years old who were underwent an initial O'Leary Index, this index was indispensable to made the medic history and characterize the patients, and a second one after 7 days. A 53% of the patients were male and a 47% female. From the total of male patients a 60% of them present in the first control of O'Leary Index levels discordant whit health, which decreases significantly in the second control to a 22% with a correct Bass Modified Technique. From the total of female patients, in the first control a 36% of them present in the first control of O'Leary Index levels discordant whit health, which decreases significantly in the second control to a 14%. The O'Leary is a qualitative index that reflects the bucal hygiene, the develop substance use to register stimulate to do a correct mechanical action of sweep the biofilm by the brush teeth conserving acceptable levels of health.
