  • Resumen
    • Commissioning delays have been blamed for the shortfall in capital expenditure and working capital at SPMP's antimony project. The antimony and gold processing facility being built in the Port of Sohar Free Zone in Oman by Strategic & Precious Metals Processing (SPMP) will need further capital expenditure and additional working capital, Fastmarkets was told on Monday January 14. Fastmarkets’ price assessment for European domestic antimony- trioxide was €6.36-6.56 ($7.29-7.52) per kg in-warehouse Antwerp/Rotterdam on January 8, down from €6.40-6.60 per kg the week before. 2019 Antimony trioxide market outlook The market believes the low prices at the start of 2019 are more down to the sluggish demand resulting from the Christmas break and the upcoming Chinese New Year holidays, rather than the beginning of a downtrend. Prices are expected to pick-up from mid-February onward after Chinese New Year break, however, two key topics of discussion for 2019 could have a big influence on the market: the US National Toxicology Program (NTP) registration of antimony trioxide as a carcinogen; and the development of antimony projects in Oman and Russia.
